Research Act

CMDH Abbottabad is resolutely determined to cultivate a robust research culture with its first cohort of undergraduate medical students, ensuring early and meaningful engagement in scientific inquiry. Guided by institutional policy, every student is required to complete a mandatory research project by the end of their fourth year, fostering hands-on experience in health research. Five broad areas of focus emerging from the current research titles include:

  • Mental Health and Well-beingamong students and healthcare professionals;
  • Public Health and Disease Prevalenceat local and community levels;
  • Medical Education and Academic Performance;
  • Healthcare Systems and Patient Care Quality; and
  • Lifestyle and Behavioral Healthin diverse populations.

This structured approach ensures that students contribute to relevant, impactful studies aligned with both local health needs and global research priorities.

Research Academia

CMDH Abbottabad is deeply committed to fostering a dynamic research environment through its comprehensive Policy on Institutional Support, Research, and Academic Advancement. This framework is strengthened by the innovative PRIME Year Initiative, which requires every student to publish a research article in a recognized journal, supported by dedicated grants, mentorship, and collaborative opportunities. The institution provides continuous guidance through its Research Cell (RC), ensuring that students receive the necessary resources, training, and academic backing to produce high-quality, publishable work.

Research Activities 2026

At CMDH Abbottabad, research activities are integral to the academic journey, engaging students in hands-on scientific exploration from the early years of their medical education. Under the guidance of faculty mentors and the institutional Research Cell, students undertake diverse, real-world projects—from assessing mental health and public health challenges to evaluating clinical practices and community-based interventions. These activities are systematically supported through dedicated grants, structured mentorship, and the mandatory PRIME year publication initiative, ensuring every student contributes meaningfully to the medical literature. This active, student-centered research environment not only enhances learning outcomes but also fosters a culture of inquiry and innovation, preparing future healthcare leaders to address both local and global health needs.

Research Conference 2026

CMDH Abbottabad will host its inaugural Research Conference 2026—a three-day event designed to showcase student and faculty research, promote scholarly exchange, and foster interdisciplinary dialogue. The conference will feature participation from national and international scholars, offering a platform for networking, peer feedback, and dissemination of innovative findings. This event underscores CMDH’s dedication to academic excellence and its role as an emerging hub for medical research.

Publication Requirement

In line with CMDH’s academic mission, it is mandatory for each student to publish at least one research article before graduation. This is achieved through structured mentoring, the PRIME Year research project initiative, active support from the Research Cell, and encouraged collaboration with faculty and peers. This requirement ensures that students not only conduct research but also contribute to the wider medical literature, enhancing their academic profiles and preparing them for future scholarly pursuits.
